Finca Las Tenerias and the history

We are located in the valley of a thousand palms next to the village of Arteara, which is about 420m above sea level. Only about 42 people live here. The name Tenerías translates as the tanner, tannery and gave us a few question marks at the beginning. After extensive research in the island’s archives, it emerged that 230 years ago, a lot of goatherds lived in the valley. They cleaned and dried their skins on the main square of the finca before selling them to the tanners’ quarter in Las Palmas. This is why the finca gets a lot of sun and is often spared even when it rains in the whole of the Barranco.
